NCSU Dance Company

Learn, perform and grow with a nationally recognized modern dance company. As a member of the NCSU Dance Company, one of the two academic dance companies of NC State University, you’ll perform the choreography of the artistic director and annual guest artists.

Founded in 1987, the company has received frequent recognition from the American College Dance Association, including:

  • Multiple invitations to perform in national galas at the esteemed John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
  • Multiple performances in regional ACDA galas.
  • Awards for Best Student Choreographer in both the region and nation.

When do you rehearse?

Rehearsals are Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons, Tuesday evenings, and every other Saturday morning.

When do you perform?

The company performs in the Fall Concert at NC State, presents an annual spring concert at NC State, and attends and performs at the American College Dance Association Conferences. We also perform at many other venues throughout the year.  Plan on attending the next NCSU Dance Company performance.

How many academic credits do members receive?

Students receive two credit hours per semester for participation.

Meet the NCSU Dance Company Members

Annalise Boese is a sophomore majoring in English literature with a minor in French. She has danced her entire life and is so thrilled to be a part of the NC State Dance Program.

This is her second year in the NCSU Dance Company.

Gini Brown is a sophomore majoring in biochemistry and genetics from Fort Mill, SC. She began dancing at the age of three and is primarily trained in ballet, jazz and tap.

This is her second year with the NCSU Dance Company.

Isa Cortes is a sophomore in psychology studying to become a PA. It is her second year as a member of the NCSU dance company and she can’t wait for the years to come. Her background experience includes being a competitive dancer at Lake Norman Dance Gallery for 15 years and performing at numerous places including Madison Square Garden for “Americans got Talent” and several dance competitions around the nation.

Danielle Deibert is a sophomore majoring in applied mathematics.  In her home town in New Jersey, she began dancing at the age four, primarily training in contemporary, ballet and jazz.  Coming from a competitive dance background, she has enjoyed exploring new movement through modern dance.

This is her second year in the NCSU Dance Company.

Madison Johnson is a freshman majoring in political science from New Bern, NC. She began dancing at two years old and trained in several different styles, mainly contemporary and jazz.

This is her first year with the NCSU Dance Company.

Kendall Rouse is a freshman majoring in fashion and textile management with a concentration in brand management and marketing. She began dancing at the age of four at Gaston Dance Theatre in Gastonia, NC.

She enjoys ballet and modern dance, and this is her first year with the Dance Company.

Dedree Scott is a sophomore currently majoring in animal science. At a young age, she started dancing with the Charlotte Blume School of Dance in Fayetteville, NC. She loves to learn and experience new types of dances and this will be her second year with the NCSU Dance Company.

Lillian Tseng is a freshman double majoring in chemical engineering and paper science engineering. She primarily trained in ballet with Salt Creek Ballet in Chicago, IL before moving to Charlotte, NC her sophomore year of high school where she joined the Charlotte School of Ballet and the Ardrey Kell High School Dance Team. She enjoys modern dance and hip-hop and this is her first year with the NCSU Dance Company.
