As a member of the State Dance Company, one of the two academic dance companies of NC State University, you’ll perform the choreography of the artistic director and annual guest artists. Founded in 1987, the company has received frequent recognition from the American College Dance Association, including:

When do you rehearse?
Rehearsals are Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons, Tuesday evenings, and every other Saturday morning.
When do you perform?
The company performs in the Fall Concert at NC State, presents an annual spring concert at NC State, and attends and performs at the American College Dance Association Conferences. We also perform at many other venues throughout the year. Plan on attending the next State Dance Company performance.
How many academic credits do members receive?
Students receive two credit hours per semester for participation.
Meet the State Dance Company Members
Aubrey Dixson is a senior form Mooresville, NC majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in HR and a minor in Dance. She is very excited for her second year on the Company. She began my dance training at the age of two and has danced competitively in many genres of dance including ballet, jazz, contemporary and acro. She has traveled coast to coast competing in places such as Disney, Madison Square Garden, and the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.
Jenna Finkelstein is a junior majoring in biochemistry with a minor in dance. She began dancing at the age of four and trained primarily in ballet, jazz, and modern dance at City Ballet in Raleigh, NC. She is excited to continue performing and learning from other dancers and choreographers. This is her third year with the company.
Caroline Foy is a freshman from Goldsboro, North Carolina. She began her dance training at Artistic Dance Academy when she was four years old. She trained in ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, hip hop, pointe, and modern. Her favorite style is contemporary. She is very excited to continue dancing and to be a part of the company.
Delaney Galvin is a second-year majoring in Criminology and she is so excited to be in the company again this year. She began her dance training as a high school freshman and has trained in almost all styles, but enjoys modern and contemporary dance the most.
Casey Graff, is a junior in Zoology, with a concentration in Veterinary Bioscience and has been dancing since the age of four. She attended the South Dayton Dance Theater and was a company member for eight years. She is trained in ballet, modern, jazz and tap and has demonstrated as well as taught classes at her dance school. She has been to the regional dance festival four years in a row and the National RDA festival in Phoenix Arizona in 2016.
Athena He-DeMontaron is a freshman majoring in Animal Science. She has been dancing since 2005, beginning with Chinese Traditional dance and ballet. Athena has been trained in a variety of dance styles since then including contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, modern and pointe. Later, she began training in aerial and circus arts as well as figure skating. This is Athena’s first season with The State Dance Company.
Madison Johnson is a senior majoring in psychology from New Bern, NC. She began dancing at two years old and trained competitively in several different styles, mainly contemporary and jazz. She attended the American Dance Festival Summer Intensive in 2018 and was selected to perform in a new piece by Abby Zbikowski, commissioned for the festival. Madison is excited to continue learning and dancing throughout her fourth year with the State Dance Company.
Grace Lincroft is a freshman from Cary, North Carolina with an intended major in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management. She danced for thirteen years at the Raleigh School of Ballet where she primarily studied classical ballet. She has also studied modern, contemporary, and jazz. She is excited to be a member of the State Dance Company.
Alexa Simeonsson is a freshman from Chapel Hill, currently majoring in environmental science. She began dancing in seventh grade and continued her training throughout high school focusing on contemporary and ballet. She attended Governor’s School West for dance in 2018 and is so excited to join the company this year.
LilyGrace Wolfe is a junior from High Point, NC majoring in Communication Media and minoring in Art Studies. She began training in ballet at age four and later danced competitively in various styles. She attended UNCSA’s 2015 and 2016 drama and commercial dance intensives. As a college student, she performed in NC State University Theatre’s 2019 production of Cabaret, is currently serving as an NC State Dance Program Ambassador, and is so excited for her second year with the State Dance Company.
