Please join us for the Lunchbox Series, 45-minute virtual conversations with artists and thinkers in the vast world of dance.
Join Gail Nagel, a physical therapist, as she discusses the interconnections within the body, how the body works as one kinetic chain and why these are important things to consider when assessing and treating musculoskeletal injuries. She will speak about the term regional interdependence, which involves the underlying premise that seemingly unrelated impairments in remote anatomical regions of the body can be associated with a patient’s primary complaint and may be paramount to treat to maximize recovery and renew normal function following an injury. It is also important to recognize that regional interdependence also includes the somatovisceral, biopsychosocial and neurophysiologic systems. Hopefully, this discussion can reignite optimism in the dance community, where there is a high risk of injury, about the possibilities of healing and good health post-injury.
