The Dance Program will continue to monitor possibilities to hold SHIFT High School Dance Intensive. Currently, the intensive has been rescheduled for 2022. Stay tuned for announcements later in 2021. We will dance together soon!
SHIFT High School Dance Intensive
Open to rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors as well as rising college freshmen.
Transportation and housing not available.
Hosted by NC State’s Dance Program, local high school students will have the opportunity to study dance at NC State. During a week-long intensive, participants will experience classes led by teachers including Tracey Durbin, Francine E. Ott, Autumn Mist Belk, Tara Mullins and assisted by current student dancers from NC State. Participants will gain exposure to dance forms including modern, hip-hop, and with fun additions like pop ups around campus. Lunchtime panels include STEM and the arts, dance and mental health, as well as career and college pathways.
This will be a rigorous series of classes that will increase exposure to a collegiate dance environment and ask each dancer to bring their whole selves to a collective dance practice. The week will culminate in a showing of repertory and student-generated work on Friday, open to family and friends.
